Student athletes and coaches from Northern State University will be completing a variety of volunteer projects Saturday as part of Day of Champions.
An estimated 150 student athletes and coaches will be participating. Terri Holmes, NSU senior women’s administrator and assistant athletic director said volunteers will be spread among 14 job sites in Aberdeen, Frederick and Ipswich. Work begins at 8 a.m. and continues until early afternoon.
Volunteers complete projects for organizations such as the Aberdeen Family YMCA, Salvation Army, Safe Harbor and Roncalli High School, Pink Ladies Relay for Life, Frederick Forward, United Way, Tiger Post After School Program, the New Beginnings Center, Aberdeen Community Theatre, Boys and Girls Club and Holy Cross School in Ipswich.
“Students have a lot of pride in this day, and they want to give back,” Holmes said. “They get a lot of work done.”
