About:
Throughout the month of December, the K-Kids service organization from Bowling Green Elementary School in the East Meadow School District collected 19 boxes of books to be donated to children in the community.
The K-Kids organization is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis members work with K-Kids to teach leadership skills, character building and to encourage loyalty to the community. K-Kids board president and fifth grade student Leah Terriberry was proud to do her part for children in need this holiday season.
“It makes me happy to help the community and donate books to kids so they can enjoy them,” said Leah.
Bowling Green students and families donated various types of books, from historical stories to fictional tales. These books will be donated to the Book Fairies organization. The Book Fairies is a nonprofit organization that collects reading materials for people in need throughout New York.
