About:
Members of the Lindenhurst High School community were invited to celebrate diversity during the International Club’s seventh annual International Festival. The evening consisted of a series of student performances representing various cultures. Flags from around the world were proudly displayed during the Parade of Flags which included members of the LHS Italian Club and the Marine Corps JROTC who also greeted guests and directed them as they arrived.
Master of Ceremonies Aidan Mohan entertained the audience and introduced student performers. Some showcased their dancing talents and performed traditional dances from Ireland, Pakistan, India and the Ukraine as well as interpretive, modern dances. Other students demonstrated their musical abilities and played instruments or sang. In addition to the performances given by the district’s talented students, a special performance was given by, the Amazing Sladek of “America’s Got Talent.”
The members of Virtual Enterprises business classes were in attendance, sharing information, selling raffle tickets and providing an international buffet. Those students were responsible for raising money along with the International Club who raised $1,250 for the evening, $500 of which was donated to assist with a Lindenhurst student’s medical expenses. The remainder of the donations were added to the senior scholarship foundation.
