About:
Students throughout Lee Road Elementary School in the Levittown School District showed pride in their community and country during Flag Day celebrations on June 14.
Dressed in red, white and blue, fifth graders learned about the rich history of the nation’s flag from members of the Levittown American Legion. They discussed the evolution of the flag’s design beginning with its inception and reviewed the proper guidelines for displaying the flag. Students were active parts of the presentation and asked American Legion members engaging questions. Additionally, in Mrs. McCarty’s first grade class, students learned about the aspects that make up the flag, such as its 13 stripes and 50 stars. The lesson helped first graders understand the early history of the United States.
