About:
The Island Park Public Schools have compassion for the many people in other areas of the country that have experienced the destruction of hurricanes this season. After enduring flooding and other damage from Superstorm Sandy in 2012, the district and community understand the severity of the circumstances that others are now facing, and have made an effort to help.
Lincoln Orens Middle School’s Builders’ Club and Student Council joined forces to lend a helping hand and support to those in Florida affected by Hurricane Irma. They creatively decided to pay it forward by doing chores for charity, completing various tasks and good deeds in exchange for donations. Their efforts were greatly successful, resulting in a total contribution of $1,130 that will provide assistance to middle school students at Horace O’Bryant Middle School in the Florida Keys.
The Lincoln Orens students received paper hands, on which they wrote their completed chores. The cutouts were assembled to form a collage that is currently on display in the building’s hallway.
