About:
The mental health awareness game was a huge success!! All of our girls participated in some capacity as well as the Newburyport girls.
So there were about 40 girls that helped run this event.
They made homemade baked goods to be sold at the game as well as posters to support their loved ones struggling with mental health and to raise awareness of the impact mental health has on everyone. I would say each girl donated about 2 hours of their time outside of the hockey game itself which is another 2 hours long.
They helped spread the word on their own social media pages, passed around the online donation link, baked homemade goodies, made posters, and decorated the rink. We were able to raise 6700$ for the American Foundation on Suicide Prevention.

This link will direct you to the fundraising page which gives a little more background regarding Rachel McKay and the reason we chose this fundraiser. The game was in honor of Rachel McKay who was a former Marblehead hockey player. I had the idea to run this game as a tribute to Rachel because she was such an integral part of Marblehead hockey, a co-captain of mine 9 years ago, and a really close friend. I reached out to her parents to ask for their permission and they loved the idea. We also did chuck-a-puck and a 50/50 at the game.
Thank you MHTV for putting this together! Although the game didn’t go as we had hoped on Friday, we have a lot of great success stories to look back at this season including the Rachel McKay Mental Health Awareness game https://t.co/j2AGxkkDAi
