About:
Members of the Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s Interact Club continue to be mindful of the projects they embrace, and their most recent one will help someone 7,300 miles away from Port Jefferson.
The students hosted a movie screening at the elementary school and raised money that was presented to Hope Children’s Fund, an organization that supports children at the Hope Children’s Fund Home in Meru, Kenya. The $365 that they contributed will provide for the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and medical care of one child for one year.
“This is something that our club hopes to continue supporting in the future through various fundraising activities,” club adviser Deirdre Filippi said of the students who share a passion for both community service and friendship.
