About:
In honor of Black History Month, sixth grade students at Shelter Rock School in Manhasset are exploring the power of words by discussing the civil rights movement. Knowing that words have the ability to harm or to heal, Shelter Rock students came together to make sure their own words express unity and community.
The sixth graders created an inspirational word wall that hangs on a bulletin board in one of the school’s hallways. They wrote words on paper to hang up in hopes of spreading kindness to their peers. The word wall is inspiring students and helping them realize their words make an impact and can change the world.
