About:
Wantagh School District students have been taking time during their lunch periods to craft valentines for veterans and senior home residents throughout the Long Island community.
At Wantagh Middle School, the Business and Education Serving Together Club, which is a community service organization, crafted Valentine’s Day cards with heartfelt messages for veterans residing at the Northport VA Medical Center and senior homes across Long Island. The BEST Club is working with Wantagh High School junior and Miss Wantagh second runner-up Angelina Maciak, who reached out to the school community to make positive affirmation cards to spread cheer among veterans and the elderly.
Forest Lake, Mandalay and Wantagh elementary schools also joined Angelina in making valentines. Because of the harsh February weather, students were excited to take the time during indoor recess to use their creativity to spread messages of kindness and love during the approaching holiday.
