About:
Days before Valentine’s Day, second graders in Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School set out on a mission to share their thoughts and creativity in appreciation of the country’s veterans. Students cut out red paper hearts, pasted doilies, fashioned paper heart-shaped fish and wrote heartfelt messages on their handcrafted greetings throughout the grade level to share their respect and admiration in a colorful collection of cards. Each class chose a different theme, discussed ways veterans protect the country and spoke about what they could write in their cards to thank the individuals for their service, sacrifice and commitment to our country and citizens.
The cards will be delivered locally to VFW Post 6249 in Rocky Point and to Valentines for Veterans to be distributed on a regional level. Thanks to the second grade teachers and students for taking on this project.
