The Port Jefferson School District’s Varsity Club attended the Town of Brookhaven’s annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics on Nov. 18.
Club members raised more than $5,000, enough to sponsor 14 Olympians for the year.
“The day was a tremendous success thanks to our student athletes,” Varsity Club co-adviser Deirdre Filippi said. “Their dedication and commitment to doing great things in our community is rewarding to see.”
